Most of us associate the word 'feminist' with a college girl (and she majors in some kind of art). However, these girls are here to break the stereotype. Race, sexuality, sex, gender, size or even age don't matter when you are willing to fight for what you believe in. Here are five teenage girls who are done with institutionalized oppression:

3 ways to be a better feminist in 2016

It is really hard to be a feminist nowadays because people dump the actual definition of the word feminism in the trash, but this are 4 ways to overcome this difficulties and become a better feminist in 2016.

1. Speak up

Most of the discussions are solved by conversation and arguments. So if we want to stand up for our rights we shall speak up. If we want all our issues to be solved we have to have conversations with people and solve our problems. They have this rule that women belong at home and man at work but this is wrong and we have to prove them right. With this phrasal verb we can open ourselves to criticism and hear other people's concerns. A good listener is the one who has his mind refreshed and are opened to all types of complains. Our society will not change if we don’t speak up. Your voice manners. It doesn’t matter how, but us humans have to communicate and stand up for our rights.

2.  Read

A good thing about feminism is that personal experience is really common and is happening in real life and that makes it more interesting.  Reading and listening other people's experience in reality  makes you a better feminist and a better human. If you don’t know how to use your knowledge you are nothing. For example, you could be Stephen Hawking but you don’t know how to use your knowledge you can’t do nothing, you are not going to discover nothing. So to have more knowledge you have to read, read and read.

3. Try not to overvalue celebrities opinion in feminism

Sometimes people overvalue celebrities opinions and put them as the best opinion and the right opinion. Some examples of  powerful celebrities who are a feminist are Emma Watson, Beyónce, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and much more. These famous people defend the idea of feminism and bring up the truth and make more movements that help woman. But we have to remember that not only their opinion matters. We have to hear other people's realities and that makes us better feminists. Our feminist wall should have more bricks like for example, experience and knowledge.

Recently the world has been into a lot of difficulties, but we can't forget about our feminists life. We feminists should be more engaged about what is happening in our world. Did you know that some women who are against feminists wanted to ban the word feminism ? That is insane right? This conflict is only one of many. Here are three of several issues we are going to face this year, 2016.

1. The very first problem, we feminists are facing in this brand new year are the reproductive rights. We have been having this problem already for a long time but now it had become more intense in 2015. They created new laws on the topic of abortion. They are known as TRAP laws which stands for  Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers. This law is basically new requirements on clinics and hospital admitting privileges for attending physicians and ordering the building expansion. Four states started to use this law in 2015.

What we could do to solve this problem: We could support candidates who are also supporting our reproductive rights..

2. The second issue we are facing in 2016 is Intersectionality. The meaning is very important to understand our society issues and how to save our problems. Intersectionality is a concept often used in critical theories to describe the ways in which oppressive institutions are interconnected and cannot be examined separately from one another, according to the geek feminism wiki.  If you are really passionate about this topic of women’s right you could help some communities participating in the group or donating money to build more and more communities to help building our society in a good way.

3. Last but not least the terroristic online harassment. If you are a woman that spends a great amount of time in the internet you could have experienced some trolls before. For some women the mistreatment can be very intense. If you are a woman who is experiencing this issue you should tell your political representatives. They can help in the enforcement of a law and it is taken seriously by them, they should help you.

Callisto: The Reporting System That Sexual Assault Survivors Want

99% of sexual abusers in college get away with it, for many reasons, but the main issue is: most survivors won't report, many times because shame or fear of not being believed. Callisto, a new online platform created by an NGO, attempts to solve, or all least minimize, this issue. Many times the reason why victims don't report is the fear of actually going to the authorities, so they can simply register their experience online privately and send them electronically. Or, they can select 'matching' where their report is sent only when a second victim identifies the same perpetrator. Then, both reports are sent, which makes it many times more likely that the authorities will take them seriously. Callisto manages to tackle many problems at once:

1. If sexual assault is recognised more often, perpetrators will do it less often, afraid to get caught. 
2. Victims will report more often and earlier, as they know they will be believed and taken seriously
3. Perpetrators will be caught more often

Gender Roles

Gender roles are, based on your gender how should you react or where you should work. Nowadays is much more ordinary for women to work instead of being at home, but still is much more common to still see men working since it was always that way. Society always meant for men to work, get the bigger amount of money, pay for the bills, etc... meanwhile women were to be at home, cleaning the house and taking care of the babies. Now we're in 2016, a lot of women overcame that and started working on what they wished to.

Gender roles are not only based on jobs, but how we should react based on the sexes. For example when it appears a spider or anything scary, men are the ones supposed to be brave and kill or scare the animal, and girls in the other hand, are supposed to wait to be "saved". Just like a princess should wait for their charming prince to save her, or that men shouldn't cry. Lots of women and men overcame the idea of gender roles, but still there is a lot of work to be done. In a lot of countries or religions girls are still supposed to be the ones to take care of the babies . Also, we still see jobs considered only for males, like the physical stuff, builders and etc, we should change this.

According to a research realized by the Avon Institute in 2014, 3 in 5 women already suffered some kind of violence in a relationship, and 56% of men admitted that committed some kind of aggression. Domestic violence is not only physical aggression but also sexual, physiological, moral, and patrimonial is.

Feminism has helped many women around the world, it helped them gain confidence, pride courage, inspiration, hope, help others and much more. One of the results we had from this movement which certainly helped, was women's suffrage. On United States, Canada and some Latin nations women's right to vote was given before the World War II. This movement also encouraged celebrities to stand up for feminism as well to encourage it's fans. Examples are Beyonce, her song "Run the World" inspired many women. Rowan Blanchard which wrote an essay about intersectional feminism and was named as feminist celebrity of the year with Amandla Stenberg. Kurt Cobain which called out people who hate people of a different color, homosexual or women should not buy his records and not go at his concerts. Emma Watson which supported HeforShe and made an amazing speech ( speech). David Schwimmer which is the director of a centre for rape victims in California and many more celebrities which speak up for gender inequality.

Feminism helped women to have for open doors to work on places most recognized as "men" jobs by society. Such as politics and physical jobs, like basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc players, fighters and many more. Now women have access for birth control, reproductive health care and safe and easy abortion, which is reproductive rights, women are now allowed to own property and can divorce. Feminists also helped laws against : rape, sexual harassment and child molestation. Yes feminism has already helped a lot the world, but that doesn't mean we still don't have stuff to change and conquer.

Women Against Feminism

       Most of the women in the world are feminists, and want equal rights for men and women but some don't. The non-feminisms started a movement called, "Women against feminism."  Women who participate in the movement take a selfie with a paper in front of them explaining why they are against feminism.  A blogger analyzed a week of posts on Women against Feminism blog and found out that 46 percent of women were egalitarian in other words had the belief on equality. The blogger also found out that 19 percent supported men's issues, and 12 percent criticized feminist intolerance toward to different opinions or sentiment. Only about 23 percent  of women thought about  views,  like for example different sexes. 
        Some people commented that women who refuses to be feminists are not well guided. Pro-equality women sometimes think that the meaning of feminism is not "the belief that men and women should have equal rights" according to Merriam Webster, this women think that the real meaning of feminism is female advantages, privilege, caring only about women, but they are all wrong we only want equal rights, sometimes people over react.

Child marriage is usually forced by their families, by the reason that it might help their family economically or is by tradition passed generation to generation. Girls usually between 10-17 years old are obligated to marry. Girls at eleven marry to men much older than them, adults. Others marry with a guy around their age. These young kids have to drop out of school and give up on their dreams of a successful career, most get out in middle school so they can focus on their families and how to be an average wife. This also prevents early pregnancies, females at such a young age are already found with the average of two kids, this can also lead to early death of the mom during birth or neurological or physical problems with the baby.
Child marriage adds to gender inequality girls should be able to decide whom to marry and when to have kids. Some are sexually assaulted by their husbands or verbally, physically or emotionally violated.

This is the most common misconception, yet it is the most absurd. No, feminists do not hate men. Yes, of course, some feminist issues regard men specifically, such as rape and domestic violence, but what feminism really strives for is educating men on all these concepts, so we can live in harmony as a society. The truth is, women are systematically oppressed based on their sex, and that’s a fact. Men, however, are not. Society, at times subtly and at time brutally, favors men. Everything from hiring employees to the Constitution swings in their favor. Because men are accustomed to living in a world where they are valued immensely, having a movement such as feminism may make them believe they are under attack. So no, feminists do not hate men, they simply want to close the gap between men’s and women’s privileges.
