Feminism and Intersectional Feminism
Feminism is all about gender equality and all feminists support that, although there are two types of feminists which believe in a few different aspects. Intersectional feminism is in which includes supporting every race, religion, gender or economic class. They look at different backgrounds women experience oppression. So whenever you call yourself a feminist people might think you are referring to the one which only support this concept for middle class white women, or just for themselves. Intersectional feminism notices the privilege white women have. In a TED talk ( TED ) this guy mentions a scenario that occurred to him many years ago. There were two girls, one black and the other one white. The black woman defends the idea that white women are privileged, meanwhile the other insists on the opposite. The black woman asks " when you look yourself in the mirror what do you see ? " the other woman responds " I see a woman " the black woman adds " that's the problem, because when I look myself in the mirror I see a black woman " so that means you can't see/notice privilege when you have it.
As seen intersectional feminists support gender equality but not only for themselves or white women in general, they support every culture, every race/color, all sizes or all sexualities. We cannot separate feminism based on these categories, all feminists should be intersectional feminists, since they are supporting the idea that all women should be treated equal as men economically, socially, politically etc.., women by the experience of being treated differently should know how all girls feel and should support for all of them not based on their race, culture, body size or sexuality.
